Invitation to Commission for Gender Equality media launch of the 16 Days of Activism

The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will be launching 16 Days of Activism on No Violence Against Women and Children amidst the national outcry on the state of abuse and atrocities committed against women and children in South Africa.

Amongst other activities in the order of events during the launch, the CGE will be presenting findings of the Victims Charter Report of 2013. The report was a national policy intervention and response mechanism (by government stakeholders), placing emphasis on improving the quality of services to victims of sexual assault, with particular emphasis on avoiding secondary victimisation.

Institutions expected to make presentations in response to the Victims Charter Report include NICRO (National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders) and Department of Correctional Services. It is hoped that the launch will culminate into a debate about challenges and the necessary interventions that will benefit victims of sexual offences.
