International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Port Elizabeth and the 2013 National Disability Awards

The National Disability Rights Awareness Month closes on 3 December 2013 at the Nelson Mandela Metro in the Eastern Cape. South Africa will also mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on the same day.

Disability Month is observed from 3 November to 3 December 2013 under the United Nations theme “Break Barriers, open doors: for an inclusive society for all”.

Deputy Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Hon. Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu MP, joined by the Eastern Cape MEC of Social Development , Ms Pemmy Majodina  and provincial representatives, will lead a march from the square by people with disabilities, Government officials and other stakeholders, to mark this day and conduct a public participation dialogue with disabled people.

The department will also be hosting the National Disability Awards at The Boardwalk Casino, Port Elizabeth on 2 December 2013 at 18h00.
