The Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities (DWCPD) has in continuation of the existing partnership with the religious community joined hands with the South African Council of Churches (SACC) to unite the country in the eradication of gender-based violence through prayer, recognising the link between religion and culture in the elimination of harmful practices and inner healing.
The SACC through its women wing (Women Ecumenical Conference) and DWCPD will hold the multipronged interdenominational women prayer service to:
- Raise awareness and UNITE against Gender Based Violence
- Pray for moral regeneration and restoration of family values
- Pray for peace in our homes, schools, communities and country
Minister Lulu Xingwana will deliver the key note address ahead of the prayer service which is scheduled to take place as follows:
