Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, invites members of the media to the Imbizo to announce the launch of the Mpumalanga University. The new university is a major milestone in the growth and development of South Africa’s tertiary education.
The development of the new universities, have been identified and prioritised within the Strategic Integrated Projects (SIP 14) by the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Committee (PICC). At the Imbizo, the Minister will present a ten year development plan for the University, outlining its design qualities as a 21st century higher education institution and as well as informing the community of the advantages, the benefits not only for study purposes but for employment for academic, support and administrative opportunities.
Added to these opportunities will be skills prospects related to the building and construction of the new site.
The Office of the Premier is expected to highlight the achievements of the Province. The District and Local Municipalities will be represented at the Imbizo.
