The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, will launch Occupational Teams as part of the department’s plan to ensure that South Africa has the skills required for the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs).
The Occupational Teams will consist of two principal interest groups – those who provide the theoretical foundation for certain occupations and those who are in a position to provide structured workplace learning. They will provide a systemic and organised way to bridge the gap between learning institutions and the world of work.
