Health Ministry to meet with recruits for the South Africa-Cuba Medical Students Training Programme

The Deputy Minister of Health Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will visit provinces to meet with shortlisted youth who applied for the South Africa-Cuba Medical Students Training Programme. The purpose of these visits is to brief selected youths about processes of the 2013/14 academic year in Cuba and the programme; what is required and expected from them; and generally prepare them for the commencement of the programme this coming September.

The visits will commence tomorrow in Gauteng, proceed to KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg), Eastern Cape (Bisho) and Free State (Bloemfontein) on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively.

The recruits will be accompanied by their parents or guardians to the forums for them to as well get a brief and understanding of the programme. The prospective medical students will in the process be screened for health and complete other relevant applications asessments.
