Gauteng Legislature convenes Sector Parliament for people with disabilities

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will host a Sector Parliament for People with Disabilities. As one of GPL’s initiatives to promote public participation, the Sector Parliament forms part of the various Sector Parliaments convened annually targeted at the diverse society groups.

The Sector Parliament for People with Disabilities is scheduled to take place as follows:

The majority of Persons with Disabilities in South Africa have been excluded from the mainstream society and struggle to access fundamental social, political and economic rights. The Sector Parliament will give a platform for challenges faced by people with disabilities to be addressed, further seeking solutions to the address the poverty, exclusion, and unemployment challenges. 

Each of the five regions of Gauteng will be well-represented. Among others, the Gauteng Premier, Political Parties, Members of the GPL, MECs, BUSA, NAFCOC, and Faith based organisations have been invited to form part of the discussions.
