Gauteng Legislature commemorates Youth Month, 15 Jun

GPL commemorates Youth Month by encouraging critical thinking & debate amongst youth

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will on Friday, 15 June 2018 gather young people from across the province to participate in the Annual Youth Sector Parliament and Critical Thinking Seminar.

Both activities provide a platform for Gauteng youths to express their views on how best the Province can improve service delivery to them and making a critical assessment of the effectiveness of existing youth development initiatives in Gauteng.

The theme for this year’s Youth Parliament is: “The children of any nation are its future. A country, a movement, a person that does not value its youth does not deserve a future –GPL – Thuma-mina and entrust me with the future of the youth in Gauteng”

The Seminar will solicit the youth’s views on how they perceive the future of South Africa and their contribution through participating in crucial democratic processes such as voting. Ultimately, the seminar envisages spurring young people into action and active citizenry through urging them to register to vote in the upcoming general elections in 2019.

The Seminar will take the form of a panel discussion comprised of young panelists and influential personalities from different walks of life and sectors of Gauteng society i.e. Radio host Bujy Bikwa; SAICA member and political analyst Khaya Sithole as well as Masters’ Student Simamkele Dlakavu.
