Gauteng Health to launch Thuthuzela Care Centre for abused women
As part of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children, the Gauteng Health Department will on Tuesday, 5 December 2017, launch Thuthuzela Care Centre (TCCs) at Thelle Mogoerane Hospital in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
The TCCs are one-stop facilities that have been introduced as part of a strategy to reduce secondary victimisation of rape and gender-based violence victims. Under the theme “Count me in: Together moving a non-violent South Africa forward,” MEC for Health, Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will lead the commemorations wherein various speakers will touch on different topics such as drug and substance abuse, human trafficking, crime prevalence, and a testimony by a rehabilitated victim amongst others.
