Gauteng City Region unveils a month-long programme of action to empower women

In keeping with the commitment of empowering women and protecting their rights, the Gauteng City Region (provincial government and municipalities) will launch a month-long programme to celebrate Women’s Month.

During the launch MEC for Social Development, Faith Mazibuko who is the convener for women programmes in the province will announce the lined up activities that are aimed at empowering women.

The province will also be outlining key projects and activities geared towards the empowerment of women and opportunities that will allow them to participate in the ten-pillar programme of Transformation, Modernisation and Reindustrialisation of Gauteng.

Initiatives to be embarked upon include mobilising and building partnerships with different sectors to ensure that women have access to women empowerment opportunities.

The launch will be attended by Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Executive Mayors, young women, female university students and representatives of women organisations who will interact on various topics affecting women in the province.
