Gauteng Arts, Culture and Recreation hosts 2014 Gauteng Dance Indaba, 29 Oct

The Gauteng Dance Indaba will bring together a large number of dance practitioners -from developing to professional- when it gets underway on Wednesday 29 October 2014, at the Pyramid Conference and Venue Centre in Johannesburg.

The indaba is an initiative of the provincial department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation. It is a consultative process aimed at reflecting on the impact the sector has made in the past years. It seeks to record and highlight the achievements of the past 20 years of freedom and democracy and improvement the dance sector has made to date.

Hosted under the theme “20 years of service delivery: Dance programmes that create opportunity for our Dancers”, delegates will among others discuss plans to meet and create opportunities for dancers, choreographers and dance teachers. They will also touch on how to revive the sector and strive to close the racial gaps.

MEC Molebatsi Bopape, giving the indaba the thumbs up, said:” This Dance Indaba will assist the dance practitioners to map a way forward for the dance sector. The indaba will also give a platform to discuss issues of transformation.”
