Gauteng Agriculture hands over Nguni cattle to qualifying livestock farmers, 12 Nov

Gauteng MEC of Agriculture, Environment, Rural and Economic Development Lebogang Maile will hand over Nguni cattle to qualifying livestock farmers on 12 November.

The overall objective of the project is to re-introduce the Nguni breed into the black farming communities in Gauteng. The project is a platform for qualifying, committed communities to develop and grow international niche markets for Nguni cattle products in the long term and is aligned with Gauteng’s commitment to building an economically viable society.

An initiative of the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD), in partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the University of Pretoria, the project affirms the importance of forging meaningful relations to maximize growth, as outlined in Gauteng’s Ntirhisano initiative.

The media is invited to attend the handover where they will be able to interact with the beneficiaries and specialists in Nguni cattle breeding about the anticipated benefits and other aspects of the project.
