The much anticipated 2nd annual Free State Tourism SaamTrek is back, the DESTEA together with strategic partners in the sector such as the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority, Lejweleputswa District Municipality, and Matjhabeng Local Municipality will be hosting the event from the 27th – 28th October 2023, at Phakisa Raceway in Welkom.
The two-day event is expected to attract tourists, travellers, and the people of South Africa to explore the Free State and rediscover the province as a destination of choice.
The event intends to provide tourists with a new reason to visit the province and rediscover the Free State as an entertainment destination that caters to all demographics.
With free entry, revellers will participate and enjoy activities and entertainment such as a kiddie’s village, rugby world cup final Fan Park, biker stunts show, car drifting, music performances, food stalls, and tourism products exhibitions.
As the festive season approaches, MEC for DESTEA, Thabo Meeko invites all Free Staters to explore their own backyards and participate in government initiatives such as the Free State Tourism SaamTrek 2023, which are aimed at growing tourism in the province while positively contributing to the local economy.
