Free State MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Honourable Butana Komphela to open Heilbron-Petrus Steyn road

The MEC for Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State, Honourable Butana Komphela will officially open the Heilbron-Petrussteyn road on Friday, 18 October 2013 at Black swallows sports ground in Heilbron as part of the 2013 October Transport Month Campaign. The event will start at 9h00.

The Heilbron-Petrus Steyn road is one of the main arteries between Gauteng, the Eastern Free State and Lesotho and one of the main public transport routes in the province. It is also one of the flagship projects of the Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State Province.

The scope of the work on the project that has started during July 2010, includes 26 km of additional climbing lanes; the rehabilitation of Langmark Street through Heilbron (1.5 km), the access road to Mamafudebu (0.5 km), the southern access road to Petrus Steyn (0.2 km) and the northern access road to the town of Petrus Steyn and the silo’s (2.5 km). In total, 45.5 kilometres of road has been rehabilitated.

Joining MEC Butana komphela at the official opening of the road will be members of the Provincial Executive Council, Mayors and councillors from all municipalities in Fezile Dabi district, Contractors and Public transport operators.
