In celebration of Disability Awareness Month, the Free State Provincial Government has created platform for entrepreneurs with disabilities, protective workshops and business people to dialogue on how the disability forum or entrepreneurs can be assisted.
The MEC for Social Development Sisi Ntombela is expected to address more than 200 delegates who will be attending this event in Bethlehem (New Hall) on Friday, the 28 of November 2014 at 10h00.
The dialogues intends to share information on available incentives and business support services by the government, increase access to information by a wider audience, create a platform for entrepreneurs with disabilities and protective workshops to network with stakeholders and create a platform for Entrepreneurs with disabilities and protective workshops to market themselves.
Free State Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Forum started in 2007 to advocate the rights of entrepreneurs with disabilities and it was officially launched by SEDA in partnership with DETEA. In November 2013 during Disability Right Awareness Month the Department of Social Development committed to fund the forum with an amount of R100 000.00 in order to implement their plan, the forum received the money in February 2014.
Policies and Acts which support the inclusion of persons with disabilities in economic empowerment initiatives include the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, 53 of 2003 and the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act 5 of 2000 as well as Growth and Development Summit Resolutions of 2003.
The dialogues for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities will be hosted in partnership with the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), SEDA as well as Free State Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Forum.
