First Lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe to address Netflix premiere of "Silverton Siege"

First Lady, Dr Tshepo Motsepe will today on Thursday,14 April 2022, deliver keynotea remarks at the first public screening of the film, "Silverton Siege”.

The event will take place at the Teatro at Montecasino, Fourways in Johannesburg.

Netflix will screen this Pambili Film production which is directed by Mandla Dube who has brought to life a story set in the struggle against apartheid.

Set in 1980, when a high-profile sabotage mission goes wrong, Calvin Khumalo and his operatives are cornered by the police and forced into a bank full of civilians.

They demand the release of the then imprisoned Nelson Mandela in exchange for the hostages. 

Netflix is the world's leading streaming entertainment service with 222 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, documentaries, feature films and mobile games across a wide variety of genres and languages.

At the recent South African Investment Conference, Netflix pledged to invest R929 million in the South African creative industry during the course of 2022-2023.

The Teatro premiere will commence at 17h00, with Dr Motsepe as guest speaker.
