Expanded Public Works Programme Social Sector Youth Community Safety and Security launch

In its quest to provide work opportunities to the unemployed youth and improve socio-economic conditions of communities, the national Department of Public Works (NDPW) cordially invites you to the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) Social Sector Youth Community Safety and Security launch in Breede Valley, Western Cape.

Details of the event are as follows:

Time: 9h00 to 12h00
Venue: Pietman Hugo Hall in Kleinplasie, Worcester

The Breede Valley Youth Community Safety and Security project was introduced in April 2013 as a pilot project of the EPWP Social Sector to create work opportunities and expand the sector’s foot print at local level. The project has employed 52 young people as firefighters, traffic wardens, school patrols, etc. The project is designed to address youth unemployment while rendering security and safety services to school children, officials and communities in public buildings, in town and surrounding areas of Worcester.

Objectives of the launch:

  • To create work opportunities for young people of 18 to 35 years in the surrounding areas of Breede Valley Local Municipality
  • Training of the youth in the project for efficient service delivery and personal development
  • Collaboration of relevant stakeholders to fully achieve the project objective of empowering the youth to develop and access employment in future.
