Exercise Seboka open day at South African Army Combat Training Centre

Exercise Seboka is an exclusively SA Army training exercise conducted at SA Army Combat Training Centre with an aim of facilitating an integrated training and to showcase SA Army’s state of combat readiness in an conventional warfare. An open day will be held on Thursday, 25 September 2014 at SA Army Combat Training Centre, Lohatlha to showcase the SA Army level of combat preparedness.

This year’s Exercise led by 43 South African Brigade will put through the SA Army members through their paces by testing the operational readiness by means of demonstrating of SA Army’s firepower during the joint exercise in order to protect the South African borders and its people.

Chief of the SA Army, Lieutenant General Vusimuzi Masondo will be the main functionary at this event and he will deliberate on developments, future training and utilisation plans for the SA Army during the briefing to the media.

South Africa has been part of the peacekeeping force elements that have been participating in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) peace missions in order to bring stability and peace in the continent. Military exercises such as Exercise Seboka demonstrates the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) capability and South Africa’s commitment to support these missions to fulfil the regional and continental obligation to help and create peace and stability in the continent.

A military aircraft have been identified to transport the media to SA Army Combat Training Centre in Lohatla to witness the capabilities. Due to limited space available on the aircraft , the members of the media are kindly requested to RSVP by no later than 22 September 2014 to Major Ngubane to confirm attendance.

  • 15h00: Depart from SA Army SA Army Combat Training Centre , Lohatla back to Air Force Base Waterkloof, Pretoria
