Elderly and child headed households prioritised

The elderly, child headed households and people living with disabilities will be the prime beneficiaries when Human Settlements Minister Connie September hands over houses in Port St Johns in the Eastern Cape this Thursday.

The fifty seven houses were built by 80 women volunteers as part of the national and provincial Departments of Human Settlements programme of celebrating the Women’s Month. The volunteers were trained in bricklaying, plastering, roofing and casting of foundations before they started building.

Minister September will be accompanied by her deputy, Zou Kota-Fredericks, MEC for Human Settlements Helen Sauls-August and the Mayor of Port St John’s Mnyamezeli Mangqo.
