The Honourable Member of the Executive Council responsible for Education in the Eastern Cape, Mandla Makupula, in line with the “Opening one ASIDI schools a week Campaign” announced by the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga on 17 July 2013, will, once again, be opening another newly completed school in the OR Tambo municipal district, Gqweza Senior Primary School, tomorrow morning, Monday, 5 August 2013.
The school forms a part of the first batch of 49 mud schools identified and planned for replacement through a Service Delivery Agreement with the Development Bank Southern Africa (DBSA), as part of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Development Initiative (ASIDI). ASIDI aims to eradicate all mud schools and inappropriate structures, as well refurbish dilapidated and ill equipped schools.
