Media accreditation requirements for SOPA

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature will convene the official opening of the Legislature on the 25th February 2020. The official opening marks the first sitting of the house in the year and affords the Eastern Cape Premier to deliver the State of the Province Address. The State of the Province Address is hosted in terms of Rule 17(3) of the Standing Rules of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, where the Premier is invited to deliver the State of the Province Address to the people of Eastern Cape Province. The Rules of Procedure of the Legislature provide that the SOPA must take place a week after the State of the Nation Address. The Premier is given an opportunity to address all sectors of the Eastern Cape population through the State of the Province Address.

Members of the media are advised to send information details of their reporters that will be covering the February 2020 State of the Province Address. The information details sent must clearly indicate which role each person will be performing for accreditation purposes. This information must be submitted using the attached template not later than the 14th February 2020.

Please note: no journalist or media personnel will be accredited if the requested information is not submitted on or before the said date. Entry to the Legislature will be strictly by accreditation.
