Eastern Cape Legislature Portfolio Committee on Education embarks on school visits
As part of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature programme, the Portfolio Committee on Education shall this week, be deployed throughout the province to assess the state of readiness in different schools for the beginning of the 2014 academic year.
The school visits programme is conducted annually, and is set to start tomorrow, 15 January to 24 January 2014. The purpose of the visits is to assess the schools’ readiness and challenges facing the schools this year.
The Portfolio Committee on Education is geared to engage relevant stakeholders in all districts and metro municipalities around the Province as part of the Legislatures’ oversight role over the executive arm of government. The Committee would facilitate findings and recommendations for tabling before the House following these visits.
Members of the media are welcome to accompany the seven teams comprised of Members of Provincial Legislature to cover these visits. Please refer to the attached programme for easy reference.
