Eastern Cape Education hosts Creative Arts Festivals and Exhibitions, 29 Oct

The Eastern Cape Education department in collaboration with the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture will tomorrow, 29 October 2014 host a Creative Arts Festivals and Exhibitions at the Guild Theatre in East London at 08h00.

Through this festival the department seeks to populate art in schools while also acting as a platform for showcasing skills, knowledge values and attitudes acquired during the sessions from resident artists in this programme.

This year’s Provincial Creative Arts Festival an Exhibitions was deemed as an enhancer of collaboration between the two departments. This will lead to audience development, talent identification and overall contribution to the creative economy development as envisaged in the Mzansi Golden Economy.

In the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), the subject Life Skills in the Foundation and Intermediate Phases (Grade R-6) has been organised with Creative Arts as one of the study areas and a standalone subject in the Senior Phase (Grade 7-9).

The festival has four levels (circuit, district, cluster and Provincial) have already been conducted except for the provincial one.
