Deputy President Paul Mashatile replies to questions in National Council of Provinces, 26 Oct

Deputy President Paul Mashatile to appear before the NCOP

Deputy President Paul Mashatile will appear before delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) in a hybrid plenary sitting to answer Questions for Oral Reply tomorrow (Thursday, 26 October), at 2 pm.

As stipulated in section 92(2) of the Constitution, scheduling of the regular quarterly question-and-answer sessions is one of the mechanisms that Parliament utilizes to hold the Executive to collectively and individually account for the performance of their functions.

The Deputy President’s oral replies to the NCOP permanent delegates will cover a range of issues of national and international public importance and other government service delivery-related matters.

Amongst the questions the Deputy President is expected to respond to include how government will strengthen the State’s capacity to deliver social grants and prevent future disruptions to pay-outs like what had happened recently. He is also expected to give an account on how government will revitalize “infrastructure in the agricultural sector to expand production and food security”.
