Deputy President David Mabuza visits Free State Province, 5 Jun

Deputy President David Mabuza will on Friday 5 June 2020 visit the Free State Province as the country enters Alert Level 3 of the risk-adjusted approach to easing the nationwide lockdown.

The visit to Mangaung is as a result of the decision by the National Coronavirus Command Council that the President and the Deputy President should assess the state of readiness of all provinces, in terms of functionality of provincial and district coronavirus response structures. Other areas of focus will be the state of readiness of provincial health infrastructure in responding to the coronavirus pandemic and the extent of the reach of economic and social coronavirus relief measures to those that these interventions are intended for.

Support the president as he leads the countys response to the pandemic.

The Free State visit is a continuation of the work of government to flatten the curve and save lives.

The Deputy President visits Mangaung as the epicentre of the coronavirus infections in the Free State province. During this visit Deputy President Mabuza will be joined by Premier Sisi Ntombela in visiting the provincial Health Command Centre, the Universitas Hospital that has been designated as the provincial centre for isolation and treatment of people infected with coronavirus, as well as address newly recruited nurses and social workers employed to support the implementing of the provincial coronavirus response plan.

The move to Alert Level 3 calls on every South African to play an active role in saving lives and preserving livelihood of all citizens.
