Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa visits Lesotho, 5 to 6 Nov

Southern African Developing Community (SADC) Facilitator and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will once again visit the Kingdom of Lesotho from Wednesday-Thursday, 5-6 November 2014 to build upon, strengthen and consolidate recently agreed political and security agreements in the country.

The visit of the Facilitator and Deputy President Ramaphosa will be the seventh and comes after the recent signing of the Maseru Facilitation Agreement and the Maseru Security Accord.

The Maseru Facilitation Agreement laid the basis for the reconvening parliament in October; dissolution of parliament in December and the holding of elections in February 2015 on a date to be set by His Majesty King Letsie III.

On the other hand, the Maseru Security Accord provided for the three senior defence and police officers to go on a leave of absence and undertake working visits on their areas of expertise to SADC or Commonwealth countries. During this period their respective Deputies will take charge of the relevant security agencies.

Deputy President Ramaphosa is expected to return to South Africa later on Thursday 6 November 2014.
