Deputy Minister Xasa hosts Business Breakfast with hospitality industry on Food Safety Programme

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms Tokozile Xasa, will be address the Mpumalanga hospitality industry at a business breakfast session to celebrate the success of the department’s Food Safety Assurance programme (FSA).

Themed “From farm to fork – Making South Africa a food safe destination”, the business breakfast will bring together key hospitality industry players to reflect on the successes of the 2014 Food Safety Assurance programme, and to map the way forward for expanding it to more provinces.

The Food Safety Assurance programme (FSA) is an initiative of the Department of Tourism in partnership with the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) and the South African Food Safety Corporation (SAFSCO). More than a hundred unemployed youth have been trained and employed as food quality assurers in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
