Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs to handover the multi-million rand Batho Township Greening and Beautification project

The Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will on 5 December 2013, officially hand over the Batho Township Greening and Beautification project in Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality in Bloemfontein, Free State.

The Free State Economic Development and Environmental Affairs MEC, and the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality Cllr Thabo Manyoni, as both the host and beneficiary, will form part of the entourage at the official launch.

The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality with the assistance of the Department of Environmental Affairs has planted trees, erected park lights, shade structures, carried out general street cleaning and installed bins among others in Batho township in line with the municipality’s greening strategy and the older township rejuvenation programme.

The aim of the project is to create an attractive, clean, green and healthy environment that will serve as the basis for sustainable economic development, and enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.
