Deputy Minister in The Presidency, Ms Thembi Siweya, to unveil the brand-new studios at Giyani Community Radio 106 FM
The Media Development & Diversity Agency (MDDA, led by the Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Ms Thembi Siweya, will unveil the brand-new state-of-the-art broadcast studios at Giyani Community Radio 106 FM, on Friday, 06 May 2022, in Giyani under the Greater Giyani Local Municipality in the Limpopo province, South Africa.
The Giyani Community Radio is rated number 03 in listenership within the whole province of Limpopo. The station also covers Vhembe and Mopani District Municipality, Mutale local Municipality north of the Kruger National Park and Makhado Municipality.
The station was established in 2011 and was first funded by MDDA for broadcast equipment in 2013, when it first went on air with a recorded listenership of 212. The second strengthening funding was in 2015 when Giyani Community Radio had grown its listenership to 125 000 and was the second highest in Limpopo.
Giyani Community Radio’s main aim is to fulfil the diverse needs of its listeners by bringing news, series, dramas, awareness campaigns and shows that educate the community. The station’s languages of broadcast are Xitsonga 50%, Tshivenda 20%, Northern Sesotho 20% and English 20%.
The new state-of-the-art studios will elevate the quality of broadcasting, opening more areas of Limpopo to an exciting state of community radio.
The unveiling of State-of-the-Art Studios is scheduled as follows:
