Deputy Minister Siweya to host a webinar on Psychological, Socio-Cultural and Economic Effects of COVID-19

The Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Ms Thembi Siweya, will host a virtual roundtable discussion on the psychological, socio-cultural and economic effects of COVID-19. The roundtable discussion is part of government’s continued stakeholder engagement on practical ways to deal with the spread of COVID-19 and minimise its impact in society. 

A number of key stakeholders have confirmed their availability to participate during the discussion. These include Bishop Sipuka, President of the South African Catholic Bishops Councils (SACBC); Father Smangaliso Mkhatshwa, Chairperson of the Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) and Ms Cassey Chambers of  the Anxiety Group (SADAG).

At this session, Deputy Ministers will report on government’s effort to deal with the psychological, socio-cultural and economic impact of Covid-19 and invite stakeholders to share their view and current programmes with a view of identifying areas of collaboration.

The session will be open to the media through a link that will be shared upon confirmation of participation.
