Deputy Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga holds Taking SANRAL to the People programme in Oshoek, Mpumalanga, 8 and 9 Mar

Transport Deputy Minister takes SANRAL and road safety to Oshoek, Mpumalanga

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga jointly with the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL), an entity of the Department of Transport, invite members of the media to the flagship programme Taking SANRAL to the People to be held in Oshoek, Mpumalanga, under the theme “Transforming Mpumalanga, one kilometre at a time”.

The flagship programme promotes dialogue between the agency, different spheres of government, business, traditional leadership, communities and other key stakeholders that are affected by its projects.

Taking SANRAL to the People shares information about the agency’s continuing role in infrastructure development seeks to engage affected stakeholders in dialogue on issues of mutual interest.

As a national road safety champion, through the Department’s 365 Days Road Safety campaign aimed at reducing crashes on South Africa’s roads, Deputy Minister Chikunga will also encourage road users to take personal responsibility for their safety at all times.  As part of the drive towards safer roads in Mpumalanga, the Deputy Minister will thus convene an Imbizo on this important matter.

The Deputy Minster will be joined during the two-day programme by the Executive Mayor of the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality, Cllr. D.P.
Nkosi, National and Local Council Municipality leadership and officials, traditional leadership, key transport stakeholders and members of the community.
