Deputy Minister of Transport supports excellence and innovation in the aviation sector
The Deputy Minister of Transport Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga will deliver a keynote address at the 2015 inaugural Avi Awards ceremony held at the CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, on Wednesday, 28th October 2015.
Ms. Chikunga will also announce winners of the 2015 Avi Awards on the same evening.
Wednesday’s awards will be hosted by an agency of the Department of Transport, Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS), in partnership with Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), an entity of Department of Science and Technology.
The AVI Awards 2015, introduced for the first time at this year’s Avi Afrique Innovation Summit, are a platform to showcase and celebrate the sharpest minds and the most brilliant innovations in our country. The awards celebrate creativity and scientific thinking, which remains a critical ingredient to leapfrog Africa into the first-world status.
Nominations for the awards were received from far and wide and finalists include journalists, academics and engineers.
Winners will walk away with rewards that include monitory prizes and certificates.
An exhibition will be held in the morning on the same day to showcase innovation in the aviation sector.
