Deputy Minister in The Presidency and NYDA Chairperson to visit NYDA beneficiaries

Deputy Minister in the Presidency- responsible for Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation- Honourable Buti Manamela and National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Executive Chairperson, Mr Yershen Pillay will tomorrow Wednesday 10 September 2014 conduct project visit to an NYDA funded youth project based in Orange farm.

The project visit will take place at the Siyaphumelelo Community Development Projects, a recycling cooperative established by a group of young people from Orange farm. The cooperative received Grant funding through the NYDA Grant programme as well as other non-financial support and currently employs 20 employees.

Since inception in 2013 the NYDA Grant funding has assisted over 500 youth owned enterprises to start, maintain or expand their existing businesses.

The project visits will give the Deputy Minister a sense of the work undertaken by the NYDA through its various programs. It will also afford both the Deputy Minister and the NYDA Chairperson an opportunity to interact with the beneficiaries to also understand their progress and establish if there are any challenges the young entrepreneurs are faced with.

The Orange farm project visit is a second in a series of beneficiary visits that the Deputy Minister and NYDA Chairperson will conduct in various provinces, with the first one having taken place in Cape Town.
