Deputy Minister Pinky Kekana holds Digital Media Mall Concept roundtable discussion, 27 Sept

Deputy Minister of Communications, Ms Pinky Kekana will hold a roundtable discussion with women in the media. The roundtable is held under the theme “Women and local content in the fourth Industrial Revolution”.

The roundtable is a platform for women in media to explore the opportunities in the broadcasting and film sector, with other critical government agencies such as the National Film and Video Foundation, National Empowerment Fund and the Department of Trade Industry. In addition to the roundtable, Deputy Minister Pinky Kekana in partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, commonly known as the CSIR will launch the Digital Media Mall concept.

The Digital Media Mall is an application that has the potential to harness and increase youth employment in the TV/FILM sector through SMME growth. This technology has the potential to unlock new commercial activity in a changing global media industry for the African continent as well. Used to its full potential the Digital Media Mall can be a 4th Industrial Revolution model for a public-private partnership to drive GDP and SMME growth in the South African Broadcasting Sector.
