Deputy Minister Phaahla to view the Memorial in honour of Women in the First National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa (1994-1999)

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla will pay a special visit to the Memorial in honour of the First Women in National Assembly with a view to look at opportunities relating to public art and future expansion of the project. The occasion will take place on Tuesday, 12 March 2013 at the Constitutional Hill Women’s Jail, Johannesburg.

Women’s Development Foundation (WDF) built the memorial in honour of the first 168 women members of first democratic parliament.

Dr Phaahla will not only view the memorial but will also speak on the Department of Arts and Culture’s new strategic focus, Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE).

MGE seeks to accelerate the role played by the arts, culture and heritage sector in job creation and economic growth.
