Deputy Minister Parks Tau hosts a virtual dialogue with ‘Women in Local Government’ as part of Women’s Month commemoration, 29 Aug

Virtual Dialogue: Leading in the face of COVID-19 and Gender-Based-Violence - The Role of Women Leaders in Local Government

The Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Parks Tau, together with the President of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Councillor Thembi Nkadimeng will host a virtual dialogue with ‘Women in Local Government’ as part of Women’s Month commemoration.

The dialogue aims to provide a platform of deliberation for women in local government, on a global scale. The discussions will explore the role of local government in consolidating national unity and global solidarity, amid the Covid-19 pandemic which has compounded gender inequalities, with women and girls being the most negatively affected.

The virtual dialogue will take place as follows:
