Deputy Minister Pamela Tshwete launches 2014 Enforcement Week, 17 Nov

The purpose of Enforcement Week, this year aptly themed: Zero Tolerance Approach is to ensure that no one is prejudiced with regard to receiving the requisite water supply services. This responsibility must be discharged such that the prescripts of the Constitution of everyone being guaranteed the right to an environment that is not harmful to their health or wellbeing, the right to have the environment protected for the benefit of present and future generations through reasonable legislative and other measures, as well as the right of access to water are upheld.

During the course of Enforcement Week, the Chief Directorate: Enforcement will demonstrate its daily activities in dealing with the contraventions of water related legislation, particularly the National Water Act, 1998 (Act No 36 of 1998) (NWA), to promote a strong public awareness on unlawful water use.

Enforcement Week will be driven through enforcement action in the month of November which will include includes pro-active and re-active administrative, criminal and civil action
