Deputy Minister Maggie Sotyu launches consultative forum for the IPID and Civilian Secretariat for Police, 6 Mar

The Civilian Secretariat for Police, in conjunction with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will, on the 6th of March 2015, launch a Consultative Forum in the Western Cape.

The Consultative Forum came into existence as a result of the Constitution of South Africa, Civilian Secretariat for Police Act and IPID Act. In terms of section 15 of the IPID Act, the forum is a platform for the two organisations to discuss ‘issues related to trends, recommendations and implementation of such recommendations’. It is aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Civilian Secretariat for Police, the IPID and the South African Police Service.

The Deputy Minister of Police will give a keynote address. Other speakers include Dr Johan Burger from the Institute for Security Studies, Gen. Riah Phiyega the National Commissioner of the SAPS, amongst others. There will be an opportunity to engage with the speakers.
