Deputy Minister Joe Phaahla to visit Jane Furse in Sekhukhune

The Deputy Minister of Arts & Culture, Dr Joe Phaahla will conduct a session of Imbizo on Friday, 25 October 2015 at Jane Furse, Sekhukhune District in Limpopo Province. The Imbizo is part of government’s intensified period of consultation and interaction with communities under the theme, ‘South Africa is much of a better place than it was in 1994’.

As the country moves towards the celebration of 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy, it is significance for government to interact with communities to reflect on progress made in the effort to improve the quality of life for all. It is also time to discuss the challenges experienced in the implementation of government programmes and continue to work together to improve service delivery.

Since 1994, much has been accomplished by democratically elected government in providing efficient service delivery to the people and these achievements should be celebrated and sustained. The department will mobilise all the role players within arts, culture and heritage sector to participate in this programme.

Senior officials from all spheres of government will join the Deputy Minister Phaahla at the Imbizo to “activate” Freedom Fridays in Limpopo Province. Freedom Fridays encourages all South Africans to wear their national colours every Friday as a way of expressing pride and patriotism as well as celebrating 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy. The Imbizo will also provide an opportunity for the department to communicate its programmes to communities in the Sekhukhune District and the rest of Limpopo Province. Members of the media are invited to attend.
