The Mining Charter and mining companies in 2014 and beyond
Mineral Resources Deputy Minister Godfrey Oliphant and North West Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo will on Thursday, 27 November 2014 facilitate the North West Mining Commercial Opportunities Workshop in Rustenburg, Bojanala Platinum District.
The workshop aims to explore practical and operational ways and means of involving local commercial businesses in the supply chain processes of mining companies. This is a critical element of local enterprise development as stipulated in the Mining Charter and it constitutes a tangible component of mining companies’ operating license terms, i.e. Social and Labour Plans.
The workshop forms part of the Deputy Minister’s programme to engage emerging businesses, mining companies and local communities. The first leg of such engagements was held in the Northern Cape.
