Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters delivers business equipment to informal traders in Langa, 7 Feb

Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Dipuo Peters, will on Wednesday, 7 February 2024 hand over machinery and equipment to 67 informal traders in Mbombela, Langa, Cape Town (Western Cape) as part of the department’s Informal and Micro Enterprises Development Programme (IMEDP) programme. These enterprises are operating mostly in the clothing, construction, baking, hairdressing, catering, retail and services sectors. 

IMEDP is a 100% grant that seeks to grow informal and micro enterprises to their full potential by assisting to improve their competitiveness and sustainability. This programme targets SMMEs that are owned by women, youth and people with disabilities, in townships and rural areas of South Africa. in tomorrow’s handover, the majority of beneficiaries are in the textile and clothing sector.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by Mr Faiez Jacobs, member of the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development.
