Deputy Minister Buti Manamela holds dialogue with students on decolonisation of Education, 25 May

Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Mananela will converse with students and academics on the issue decolonisation of education.

The fees must fall movement called on government to not only eradicate fees for learners, but also to decolonise the kind of education that students receive. Government has heeded the call of students to offer bursaries to learners who are from working class families. Government would further like to engage with students on what their ideas for a decolonised education system.

The conversation will explore what makes our education colonised in order to define what a decolonised education system would look like. Furthermore participants will be able to define what outcomes a decolonised education system would produce to meet the economic demands of South Africa and Africa.
