This year we celebrate 20 years of freedom, and on 18 July 2014 we will again honour the father of our nation, Comrade Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. 2014 will forever be marked as the first Mandela Day celebration after Tata Mandela passed away, and therefore the call to action carries even more weight. South Africans are called upon to dedicate 67 minutes of their day, serving the community and contributing towards building a better society. The theme for this year’s Mandela day is: “Take Action, Inspire Change, Make Everyday a Mandela Day”
In his state of the nation address, President Zuma announced that this year’s Nelson Mandela’s Day would be celebrated by major clean-ups of our cities and to beautify every part of our country.
MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mrs. N.S. Leeto will celebrate 2014 Mandela Day celebration through cleaning campaigns at the following Health facilities:
- Parys Hospital (Parys)
- Fezi Ngubentombi Hospital (Sasolburg)
MEC Leeto will be joined by the following stakeholders at the cleaning campaigns: Department of Health, Metsimaholo and Ngwathe Local Municipalities, Ngwathe Sport Council, South African Football Association, Department of Correctional Services, Community Development Workers and the community of Metsimaholo and Ngwathe municipalities.

- Opening of Toy Library and Children Jovial Corner

Parys Hospital (Parys):

- The Painting of the Main Entrance by MEC, Executive Mayors, Jomo Sono and the Friends of Tumahole
- Cleaning of Windows
