Department of Basic Education commemorates World AIDS Day in Standerton, Mpumalanga

The Department of Basic Education will on Tuesday, 3 December continue World AIDS Day commemorations at Jandrell Secondary School in Standerton, Mpumalanga which will also be addressed by the MEC for education in Mpumalanga, Ms R Mhaule.

With the high rate of alcohol and drug use amongst learners in the area, Jandrell Secondary School was chosen as one of the pilot schools for the Care and Support for Teaching and Learning (CSTL) Programme.

South African has commemorated World AIDS Day for a number of years to recognise the country’s commitment to renewing its efforts in combating the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS amongst learners.
