Mantsopa Municipality and the MTN foundation are organising their Annual Craft Fair and they have roped in the department, through its Thabo Mofutsanyana Arts and Culture Centre (TMACC), to assist with the planning of the Craft Fair.
The Fair exposes crafters to possible new markets, provides them with industry related training and information about finding and developing new markets. It also allows crafters to meet with clients. It further serves as an opportunity for crafters to find out if there are markets for their products that they produce in their secluded homes and backyard workshops. Some crafters make use of opportunities like the Fair to bring new designs and products to this annual Fair to test the market.
Twenty six Maluti-a-Phofung crafters, including some of the best crafts in the Thabo Mofutsanyana district, will display, sell and market their crafts at the Craft fair.
The department, through its TMACC, will assist with transportation of artists and will also contribute to the presentations on market places for crafters during the different workshops at the Craft Fair.
Staying relevant to client needs, the interior decoration industry as well as gift industry is critical for the economic growth of the craft industry itself.
