Defence hands over Sekutupu Old Age Home after completion of infrastructure renovations, 20 Feb

The South African National Defence Force to handover the Sekutupu Old Age Home after completion of the infrastructure renovations

As part of the various military activities in support of the Armed Forces Day 2020 celebrations in Polokwane, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has identified the Sekutupu Old Age Home in Limpopo Province, Capricorn District in Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality Ward 8 as a worthy recipient of the Legacy Project.

The aim of the SANDF Legacy Project is to give back to a worthy cause in the Province where the AFD is celebrated annually. The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans will be the main functionary during the ceremony. The SANDF chose the Sekutupu Old Age Home and started a restoration project of the facility.

The restoration project included;

  • Renovations of the Administration Block
  • Establishment of a fully equipped Recreational Centre
  • Establishment of a bank linen & washing line
  • Installation of a borehole machine
  • Completing construction of security guard rooms


 The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans will be handing back the restored facility to the Department of Social Development and to its highly important inhabitants who have lived there since it was officially opened on the 8th October 2011.
