The Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation will tomorrow undertake an oversight visit to the Madibeng Local Municipality to assess challenges relating to the provision of quality water within the municipality.
In the past few months the municipality has experienced numerous service delivery protests due to water shortages as well as the contamination of the water supply by raw sewage. Following these protests, various government departments, at both national and provincial levels, announced intervention mechanisms to solve this problem. This visit is to assess the magnitude of the problem as well as progress in the implementation of those intervention mechanisms.
