The Department of Sport and Recreation will honour and celebrate the achievements of Team SA at the Commonwealth Games, those of the Proteas Test Cricket Team as well as the IBF Super Fly Weight World Champion, Zolani "Last Born" Tete.
These celebrations will take place on Friday, 8 August 2014. Open buses carrying the athletes will depart from Olympic House, James and Ethel Grey Park, Atholl Oaklands Road, Melrose, at 11:00.
The confirmed route is as follows:
From Olympic House turn right into Kruger Street, turn right into Pretoria Street, take left into Central street and into M1 South.
From M1 South take Smit off ramp, turn right into Simmond Street towards Bank City
Turn into Albertina Sisulu street
Turn right into Eloff Strret, then turn right into Main Street entrance to Gandhi Square.
At Ghandhi Square, dignitaries and athletes will interact with the supporters, take pictures and sign autographs.
Depature from Gandhi Square to Lead SA Prime Media Office, on Gwen Lane in the route:
Turn right into Rissik street, turn left into Commissioner, turn right into Sauer Street, turn left into Jeppe Street, then right into Nteme Piliso through the Nelson Mandela Bridge, proceed into Bertha street which becomes Jan Smuts Avenue, turn right into St Andrews, left into Victoria Street, right into Oxford Road.
Pass Rosebank Mall. Proceed with Oxford which becomes Rivonia Road, turn left into Sandton Drive,
Turn right into Alice Street, right into Friedman, and then right into Gwen Lane, Prime Media Offices at 13h30.
At 15h30, from Lead SA, proceed straight on Gwen Lane, then turn right into Maud Street, turn left into West Street, and then turn right into Nelson Mandela Square Parking.
