The Premier for the North West provincial government Thandi Modise together with the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Gugile Nkwinti cordially invite members of the media to a media briefing session regarding the North West leg of the 1913 Natives’ Land  Act  Exhibition, and the provincial Female Entrepreneur of the Year Awards taking place at the Convention Centre.

The media briefing session will take place as follows:

Date: Friday, 16 August 2013
Venue: Mmabatho Convention Centre
Time : 07h45 to 08h30

The media briefing session will be preceded by breakfast at 07:00 at the Convention Centre Foyer. The session has been scheduled to coincide with the arrival of a fleet of ten trucks (10 x 18 wheeler trucks) carrying 23 containers of exhibition material, providing a photo opportunity for the media. Later in the evening, the Premier will host the 2013 Provincial Female Farmer Award Gala Dinner.

The exhibition forms part of the activities to mark 100 years since the introduction of the 1913 Natives’ Land Act in South Africa.  It tells the story of the history of land dispossession in South Africa starting from the story of the Khoi and San communities, through to the era of colonialism and the passing of the 1913 Land Act until the dawn of democracy in 1994.
