National Teaching Awards
The Department of Basic Education will honour and salute the true heroes and heroines of our nation, the selfless individuals that open the doors of knowledge to the future leaders, activists and custodians of our beautiful nation.
Along with the guest of honour President Jacob Zuma, Minister Motshekga will acknowledge and salute the selfless contribution of the country’s best teachers, at a star-studded evening in Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre, Boksburg, Gauteng. This year’s theme is ‘A Call for quality learning and teaching”.
The 2013 National Teaching Awards will recognize outstanding teaching in the following categories and awards:

- Excellence in Primary School Teaching
- Excellence in Secondary School Teaching
- Excellence in Primary School Leadership
- Excellence in Secondary School Leadership
- Excellence in Grade R Teaching
- Excellence in Special Needs Teaching
- Excellence in ICT - Enhanced Teaching
- Lifetime Achievement Award
